First day of my special class for Baking and Entrepreneurship. Learning the Basics of Baking from Cookies to Chiffon Cakes w/ Chef Mark Infante. First we learned how to make Chcolate Chip Cookies. Ive been baking cupcakes and Never Tried cookies so now i know its just as easy as strictly following what to cream/mix into the bowl so not to destroy the texture of the cookie.
Chef Mark taught us different variations and options we could choose to take by replacing some of the ingredients in the recipe he gave us. We also tried making Soft baked Chocolate Chip Cookies and Deep-dish cookies and drizzled it w/ chocolate ganache.The Recipe Comes in handy when i am craving for cookies.
Next was the Recipe for Chiffon Cakes which we also used to make vanilla chiffon cupcakes. It is the same recipe just different size. We first placed Chocolate Ganache then with butter cream frosting and white pearl toppings. Then we also had an option of trying to even out an actual round cake.
Frosting a cake to achieve a flat smooth texture is tricky but maybe with practice and a good big spatula you willl get it right. Got it almost perfect for our finished product and learned a few piping and decorating skills to finish the edges of the cake. we had only one color for our buttercreamfrosting thus we choose blue. I like how it was taught to us step by step since baking is so tricky and you wouldnt learn the exact technique to make chiffon cakes over the internet. Looking forward to my next classes at Asian College.
